PRESENCE · DIGNITY · CONNECTION

The person at the center

Start with their wishes.

Care conversations can make room for comfort, everyday preferences, family relationships, and the kind of support a person wants.

These resources offer a starting point for reflection and companionship. They do not replace medical care or a professional assessment.

  1. Ask what matters today.
What feels most important? What would make this day a little easier?
  2. Offer choices.
Ask before helping. Respect a person's preferences, pace, and decision-making rights.
  3. Make support concrete.
Who can help with company, meals, transport, or communicating with the care team?
  4. Keep the care team involved.
Bring symptoms, medication questions, and changing needs to qualified professionals.

Support for those who support others

You can ask for help, too.

Make room for company.

Ask whether the person wants quiet companionship, a familiar story, music, or simply someone nearby. Let their preferences lead.

Name a practical need.

Invite a trusted person to help with one specific task. A clear request is easier to respond to than a general call for help.

Take a gentle pause.

If the moment allows, try a short seated reflection. CannaMediTate offers a quiet timer and an adaptable practice.

Cannabis questions in a care setting

Clarity, consent,
and professional guidance.

If cannabis or CBD is being considered, involve the person's healthcare professional and pharmacist. Ask about goals, interactions, alertness, and the plan for follow-up.
